Summit Entertainment has released some new photos for their highly anticipated sequel “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” courtesy of EW. Together with the photos, the movie studio also offers a couple of details on what the fans should expect from the movie, while a new official website has also been launched.
New Moon | Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
This pic just released by Summit shows Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) kissing. Speaking of the gorgeous vampire with an equally beautiful soul, director Chris Weitz says his absence from the narrative was the biggest obstacle “New Moon” had to overcome. In the end, he says, they did come up with a solution, one that will definitely please fans.
Weitz explains:
“Rob was the first guy to say to me, ‘You know, you don’t really need to have too much of me in this film.’ I don’t want him too present, so his apparition will be a subtle, flitting effect – clearly a reflection of Bella’s will and desire to see him.”
New Moon | Kirsten Stewart and Chris Weitz
Another photo made public shows Bella (Kristen Stewart) sitting on the floor, next to a table covered in scattered roses and with clear signs of an act of violence. Director Chris Weitz explains to EW that the scene takes place on Bella’s 18th birthday, as Edward (Robert Pattinson) tries to protect her from another vampire. At the same time, the director assures fans, all members of the cast are reading the “New Moon” book to make sure their performances deliver on the promises the novel makes.
New Moon | Kirsten Stewart and Edi Gathegi
In “New Moon,” Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and she finds her loyalties tested.
Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) is directing the sequel, which stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Edi Gathegi, Rachelle Lafevre, Billy Burke, Charlie Bewley, Dakota Fanning and Michael Sheen.
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” will hit theaters November 20, 2009.
